250-04 Insulated Rail Clamps tightly join the rails of two abutting tracks.  The clamp jaws that contact the rails are PVC which provides a non-conductive grip on the rails.

 

Each 250-04 clamps completely around the rail flange--top, bottom and edges--as well as the base of the rail web. This exclusive Hillman design results in a joint that is extremely strong in all 3 dimensions.

 

In contrast to the 0.600" long 332-01 standard clamp, a 250-04 insulated clamp is 0.800" long.  When fitted between the ties of abutting tracks, this results in a 0.200" non-conductive gap between the rail end pairs.  (Before installing the 250-04 clamp, apply a layer of silicone gel or caulk to the end of one rail in each abutting pair to prevent moisture from entering and shorting across this gap.)
